I’m Bridey Gibson, music teacher and eternal optimist.
I’m on a mission to make music lessons even more fun through innovative teaching ideas, play based learning, creative expression, and engaging resources.

to encourage every student to develop a lifelong love of music.

Balanced curriculum for beginners to master the basics of music

Expansion Programme
Three different tracks to develop musical and creative skills
The Pianosaurus Rex Music Studio is located in North New Brighton, Ōtautahi Christchurch. Piano lessons are available for beginners through to more experienced students.
Music lessons are also available at Parkview Pārua School in Parklands.
What began in 2010 as a side hustle teaching piano to a handful of students has grown into a music studio with over fifty current pupils.
I’m committed to continual improvement as a musician and a teacher, and am always learning or developing something new!
- Intermediate Certificate 2025 Institute of Registered Music Teachers
- Foundation Certificate 2017 Institute of Registered Music Teachers
- Trinity Grade 8 Solo Piano 2001 & Grade 7 Solo Piano 2000
Other (slightly less relevant!) qualifications:
- Graduate Certificate in Career Development 2008 AUT
- Graduate Diploma in Event Management 2006 CPIT
- Bachelor of Arts 2004 University of Canterbury
When I’m not teaching music, playing music, listening to music, or thinking about music, I like to spend my time: reading science fiction or fantasy, exploring the country with my family in our retro caravan, slowly working on creative projects, and learning how to surf.
Having fun is an integral part of
lessons! Learning happens in a
relaxed and encouraging
environment.

Exciting repertoire, engaging activities,
and innovative resources help to
inspire creativity and develop
a love of music.

Students master the fundamentals
of music while pursuing their own
interests and goals, receiving a
well-rounded musical education.
