Pick & Mix Practice Cards

Description

The Pick & Mix Practice Cards are an easy way to make music practice more fun, either at home or during a practice lab. With 24 different practice ideas to choose from, students can pick their favourites or mix it up by selecting cards at random.

Here’s a selection of activities included in this deck of practice cards:

• Play one line of your piece with your eyes closed
• Choose one of your scales and play it ten times
• Play the hardest part of your piece in super slow motion
• Complete one page of a music theory worksheet
• Play one section and either count aloud or use the metronome

With a variety of tasks covering pieces, scales, and other musical activities, students can create an effective practice session that they actually enjoy!

How many players?

This game is designed for one player, but can be used with two or more players by printing extra game boards.

How long does the activity take?

It usually takes between 5 and 10 minutes to complete one game board, but students can fill a game board as many times as they like during a practice session.

Can it be used with any instrument?

Yes! The tasks cards are suitable for any musical instrument.

What level?

This resource can be used with any level. All of the activities are based on the pieces and scales that students are currently working on.
