Learn to Play Ukulele
Ukulele is easy to learn, fun to play, and a great instrument for beginners! Join the Secret Ukulele Society today for an introduction to all the basics. We’ll focus on learning simple chords and strumming patterns, and playing along to some favourite songs as a group.
What different sessions are available?
MORNING SESSION
10.00am to 12.00pm • $40
The morning session is perfect for complete beginners (including people who’ve never picked up a ukulele before!) and anyone wanting a refresh of the basics. We’ll learn how to strum, our first three chords, and play along to seven kid-approved songs (like Thunder, Ho Hey, and Iko Iko).
AFTERNOON SESSION
1.00pm to 3.00pm • $40
The afternoon session builds on the material covered in the morning session and is best for students who have already mastered strumming and easy chords. After reviewing the material covered in the morning session we’ll learn four new chords, and try seven more fun songs (including Circles, Don’t Worry Be Happy, and Count On Me).
FULL DAY SESSION
10.00am to 3.00pm • $65
Beginners can choose the full day session to learn more chords and songs, while more experienced students can do the full day session to brush up on all the basics. All the chords, all the songs, all the fun!
What do these workshops involve?
Our focus is on learning new skills in a friendly and supportive group. With easy to follow instructions on getting started with ukulele, the chance to play along to a variety of popular songs, plus music games to help learn new concepts, your child will love being part of the Secret Ukulele Society!
At the end of the session you’ll also receive:
- A mini resource pack with reference material
- Access to a playlist with all the songs we learned, plus some extras
Who is this for?
The Secret Ukulele Society is perfect for kids aged 7 to 12 years old. Parents are also welcome to attend!
Where is the workshop held?
The next in-person workshop is at the Pianosaurus Rex Studio in North New Brighton.
